About the Role
The Financial Controller will play a key role in managing and supervising all aspects of the company’s accounting and financial operations. You will be responsible for ensuring accuracy and compliance across all financial reporting processes, developing and implementing robust internal controls, and providing management with timely and actionable financial insights.

Key Responsibilities
In this leadership position, you will:

Oversee Accounting Operations: Manage all accounting functions including billing, accounts receivable, accounts payable, general ledger, cost accounting, inventory accounting, and revenue recognition.

Financial Planning & Analysis: Coordinate and direct the preparation of budgets and financial forecasts, analyze results, and report variances to management.

Financial Reporting: Prepare and publish timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with applicable accounting standards.

Regulatory Reporting: Coordinate the preparation and submission of regulatory reports in line with local, state, and federal requirements.

Compliance & Technical Guidance: Research and address technical accounting issues to ensure full compliance with industry and legal standards.

Month-End & Year-End Closing: Support the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring that deadlines are met and reconciliations are accurate.

Internal Controls: Develop and document business processes and accounting policies designed to strengthen internal controls and improve operational efficiency.

Quality Assurance: Ensure quality control over financial transactions, reporting, and compliance processes.

Tax & Government Reporting: Manage compliance with local tax obligations and government reporting requirements, ensuring timely submissions.

Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to enhance financial processes and implement best practices to support the company’s growth and sustainability.

Additional Duties: Carry out additional controller responsibilities as needed to meet organizational requirements.
Qualifications and Requirements
We are seeking a highly capable professional who meets the following criteria:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related discipline.

Experience: At least 8 years of progressive experience in finance or accounting, preferably with exposure to the shipping, logistics, or maritime industry.

Technical Skills:

Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures

Experience in creating financial statements and managing full-cycle accounting operations

Strong understanding of general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end closing process

Technology: Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel; experience with ERP or financial software is a plus.

Language: Good command of English, both written and spoken.

Certifications: CPA, CMA, or other relevant professional qualifications are preferred and will be considered a strong asset.
